In true McKinney form the characters are bold and complex while the storyline twists in ways that make you wonder about the mind of the author The Mendoza family is rich in secrets and the children – Veronica Victoria and Ramon – are the ones that are in jeopardy After a phone call meant to instill fear kills their mother they come face to face with a man they believe is their father That is only the beginning the supporting characters will jump in and change the story times than I can mention McKinney is one of my favorite authors because her vivid imagination makes every story a uniue escape into a fantasy land that captures my attention and forces me to read every word till the endleaving me wanting to read her next work

Deep Deception by Tina Brooks Mckinney was overall a good read The cover had me thinking it would be about black characters but not too long after the book started it told me otherwise Veronica Victoria and Ramon are young and close in age and their lives is suddenly turned upside down when their mother collapsed and they are forced to called their father who is in Cuba that they haven’t seen in years All hell breaks loose when their mom dies and deep dark family secrets not only about the families past but the families present began to surface Veronica married to man that her father would never approve of and is having a child Victoria has a lover in her life that she thinks no one knows about and Ramon the youngest of the three is harboring hatred in his heart because he felt his MIA father wasn’t there while his mom struggled to keep food on the table and a roof over their heads There is so much to say about this novel that it would be too much to sum up in a brief review Even though the main characters Veronica Victoria and Ramon carry their own story line and is attached to the main story line of deceit with the Mendoza family secrets Moses Veronica’s boss and Tilo Victoria’s roommate brings drama to this tale with their own story There are so many twists in turns in this novel the title is perfect however it was a bit much I found myself wanting to rush the truth because it was like every other chapter there were lies and cover ups The plot literally “thickens” in this novel and it keep me reading because I really was dying to get to the point Once it unfolded I was wondering how it took so long to get to the truth that still left me confused and with unanswered uestions There were some things that occurred that didn’t make sense to me and I noticed a couple contradictionsThis novel was a page turning experience for me and it was drama filled suspenseful and I literally couldn’t put it down only because I really wanted to know how these lies would unravel I was disappointed in a way because it ended with too many unanswered uestions of how and why This is the first book I’ve ever read by Miss Mckinney and I do see that she is a talented and creative writer and I look forward to reading of her work Deep Deception was overall an interesting read I just would have like to have known information of what really happened This book looks like there will be a seuel Anna Black AAMBC Book Reviewer

Deep Deception had me from page one and I was locked in for a great suspense thriller The story starts out with a eerie phone call that sends the Mendoza Matriarch to the hospital Madre Sita's condition forces her children to make a decision that neither wants to make Then around page 140 or sothe book took a turn and I slipped never regaining my upright position The plot in and of itself was exciting but there were too many moments where I found myself going huh? If you are a true lover of suspense as I am you will be intrigued by the storyline but let down by the lack of cohesiveness to make the story truly believableI give Deep Deception a 35 rating because it did hold my attention until the end I was just a little disappointed with the execution of what potentially could have been a 5 star readTracy L DaritywwwTracyLDaritycomTracy L Darity is the author of He Loves Me He Loves Me Not and upcoming release LoveLike Snow In Florida On A Hot Summer Day

This book didn't satisfy my expectation it went in a totally different way than i expected I am a fan of books with plenty of drama and this book did have that but it had secrets than anything I would have rated it a 5 but for a close family the kids and parents contradicted themselves I didn't grasp how the kids didn't know that was a stranger how Victoria didn't see how money hungry her friend was how and why the parents hid so much but reviews say a lot of uestions readers have are answered in the second book hopefully i can read it on here

I'm guessing the girl on the cover is Tilo?? I don't know but the story is about an latino family who's father sent them to states for their own safety after Veronica Victoria and Ramon oldest brothers were killed The siblings soon learn they don't know anything about their parents or the lives the were leading Everyone has secrets in this family It was an okay read but the last 5 pages had my attention than the entire book

I was a little confused by the ending I had to go back and reread a few sections Even though Moses was assigned to investigate Veronica by her supposed father he wound up sleeping with her and in his mind impregnating her Tilo was living with Victoria but didn't hesitate to kill her for money I am sorry that Ramon was killed also A lot of the parts didn't fit as the story unfolded The cover art should havedepicted a Hispanic woman

Not uite sure if the book was meant to be confusing or what it really was meant to be I understand that the deception was so deep that no one was who they seemed to be except for the kids It just wasn't well put together for me
